Bandwidth Throttling
Contents |
Introduction
In most cases users want to throttle bandwidth during working hours, and IASO Backup Technology team designed the functionality which allows to do this — Bandwidth Throttling. Bandwidth Throttling technology allows you to control the time of limitations and speed of backup/restore processes. Also in case when network is throttled, backup gets slower and can use a lot of system resources (e.g. Exchange, System state backup), so Bandwidth Throttling gives the ability to abort selected plugins when throttle phase is started.
We are glad to welcome you to our guide! We hope that our user-friendly interface will help you to easily and successfully go through IASO2012 Installation. All you need is to follow the instructions given below.
Bandwidth Throttling Functionality
The default state of Limit bandwidth is unchecked. It means that no limitations can be applied to backup/restore processes.

But if you want to set the limitations please check Limit bandwidth field and follow the steps below:

- Set Turn on limitation at — select the start time of bandwidth limitation (e.g. the beginning of work time at the office).

- Set Turn off limitation at — select the finish time of bandwidth limitation (e.g. the finishing of work time at the office).

- Set the limit of speed while bandwidth limitation in kbit/s.

- If you want the bandwidth limitation to be disabled at weekends check the field Do not use limit on Saturdays and Sundays.

- If you want to select any plugin to be excluded from backup during bandwidth limitation check one or several of them (e.g. System state and Exchange stores).

If one of the selected plugins is in process of backup when the limitation turns on, the status of this plugin backup will be aborted in Reports.
- Click Apply button and all bandwidth limitation settings become enabled.
