Introduction

IASO Backup Technology welcomes you to our guide which will briefly review our innovative and barrier-breaking feature.

Our Virtual Drive Technology is remarkably simple and intuitive. It works and behaves just like a physical hard drive, however it exists only virtually.

It is a very helpful utility that allows you to easily and very quickly get access to all your backed up data and its contents through any file browser without any additional step of restoring them.

Virtual Drive functionality is available only for Server licences.

Installation

1. Before Virtual Drive installation please create Virtual Drive product on the server through Management Console. Please follow the instruction. Then create the user with Virtual Drive product and install IASO2012 from here.

2. In order to take advantage of the new expressive Virtual Drive feature, all you need is to simply download the driver and install it on your computer using the setup wizard. Download Virtual Drive installer from here, start it and click Next to continue.

4. Due to the fact that the Virtual Drive is a kernel mode application, you will be asked to restart your operating system. Select Reboot now and click Finish.

5. Now a new network drive appears in the system, along with normal c, d & e (dvd) drives.

Let’s navigate to the directory of the virtual drive using Windows Explorer. So, e.g. ‘Y’ is the name of the network drive, where all your data is stored.

Work with Virtual Drive

1. Make any selection and backup it.

2. With the Virtual Drive utility, you can navigate through the files on the server the same way that you interact with files on your local computer. The VD utility provides quick and direct access to the backed up folder. You can always quickly find and easily get access to the information you need. By switching to the IASO2012 and expanding the restore tree there, we can see that the folder structure in the application and in the VD is absolutely identical. The content of the sessions, like date, time and the restore tree is maintained.

The Virtual Drive also provides you with a very easy way of restoring single files with no need to restore the whole backup session in the application. Then simply click at the file you need in Windows Explorer and move it to any location of your choice. By performing a simple drag and drop operation, see how fast the restore speed is. The entire contents of the file, located in the virtual drive ‘Y’, will be successfully restored to the target location.

The Virtual Drive utility allows you to perform recoveries on the block level, that is Delta Restore, and Restore on Demand operations. The Delta Restore technology allows you to go directly to any file by simply opening it via a standard file preview program. With Delta Restore technology, the amount of data transferred will be minimized. For example, you can view images/photos with the standard Windows Picture and Fax Viewer with its standard options, like zooming, panning, and rotating photos. You can also quickly navigate from one photo to the next, or view photos in slide show mode.

The Virtual Drive also supports Restore on Demand technology, which allows only necessary data to be transmitted over the network. For instance, you can view video clips with options to play, stop, pause, rewind, or skip through the content. By transmitting only necessary data, greater network efficiency and maximized file transfer speeds is assured.
