When sending set selection with specified parameters for one, several or all plugins, as soon as the command is applied check-marks will appear on each appropriate folder/file even if they are from different plugins. When sending the command set settings with parameter PathToLocalStorage, an appropriate string with path specified will appear in the config.ini file and the local storage will be located in the directory you set.
• Stability improvements in launching IASO 2011 Client remotely from MC. The application has no more difficulties connecting to the service and starting on a remote machine.

What's new

• MSSQL backup through VSS writer is now available instead of backup through DMO. It became possible to backup SQL instances both 32- and 64-bits, there is no more need for additional disk space and as a consequence — increased speed of the backup and restore processes. • Added the opportunity to start the IASO 2011 Client minimized in tray. Now when you start/restart your machine the IASO 2011 Client icon automatically appears in tray and you can easily start the application from there.
• Added the opportunity to see files removed between previous backup session and the last one. New column Removed files is now available on the session detailed reports in the IASO 2011 Client:

It contains the number of files marked as removed from the backup session because they were removed from selection or removed at all from the system. On the click, new report with a list of removed files appears.

• Added the possibility to set BackupFP (IASO 2011 Client) communication port from config.ini file. The port 5314 is set by default but you can easily change it by specifying in the section General in the config.ini file the following parameter:

where 7777 is any port you need.

• Added the opportunity to configure SSL connection type. The new parameter SslVersion is added to the config.ini file in the section [General] which controls SSL protocol version to use while communicating with the server. By default this parameter is set to Auto (attempt to figure out the remote SSL protocol version), but it can be easily changed to the following possible values:
  • TLSv1 — force using TLS 1.0
  • SSLv3 — force using SSL 3.0
• Added the opportunity to backup “growing files” via VSS. If the application detects that any file is growing during backup process it makes a VSS shapshot and backup this snapshot. Subsequent growth of the file after the snapshot was done will not affect the size of backed up data.

Improvements

• Stability improvements in Backup Register synchronization. In case at least one tag from your current schema is missing Codebase index file is automatically rebuilt. That will prevent any loss in the codebase index.
• Stability improvements in cleaning process.
• Stability improvements in Network shares adding mechanism. Only the directories specified in the Shared Folders table and checked by the application are displayed and expanded in the backup tree in the Network Shares plugin.
• Stability improvements in VMware functionality. There is no more need to specify any port when adding new vCenter or ESX on the VMware servers tab. Necessary port to access the virtual machine disks to vCenter/ESX is now automatically selected. The Port column is removed from the VMware servers tab, only Server and Administartor login/Password fields are available and should be specified to start working with the necessary server otherwise a warning message will appear.
• Stability improvements in applying settings specified during installation of the IASO 2011 Client. All settings such as server address, username and password, encryption key and method, schedule backup, excluded files from backup, e-mail address for daily reports are applied, saved and correctly displayed on the GUI.
• Stability improvements in migration process mechanism from the current version to the latest one. After it is completed BackupServiceController is up and running, all the settings from the previous version are saved and applied in the new one.
• Stability improvements in creation/removing mechanism of schedule backups. Every schedule backup could be easily added (or removed), as the time or other settings for any existing schedule.
• Stability improvements in Script mechanism functionality. Script with empty action code considered as invalid and will be failed if it starts.
• Stability improvements in building up and displaying full session report of backed up data
• Stability improvements in applying and saving window size and position of IASO 2011 Client after the application is closed. In any window size and position you quit the application, it will remain in exactly the same state when you start it again.
• Stability improvements in displaying session errors in the Reports and tray windows. Only the errors from the last session completed with errors are displayed on the tray window. All information about previous sessions completed with errors are visible on the Reports. All the errors both on the Reports and on the tray windows are clickable.
• Stability improvements in LocalSpeedVault functionality. If username and password credentials are not specified when enabling cache vault to the Network directory you will be always prevented about it after pressing the Apply button.
• Stability improvements in backup/restore procedures. The amount of already processed data from the data selected for backup/restore is correctly displays on the Progress status tab.
• Stability improvements in System State backup.
• Stability improvements in uninstall procedure of Virtual Drive.
• Stability improvements in localization.
• Fixes an issue that leads to Backup Manager hanging on start when it is processing extra-large backup set.
• Fixes an issue that leads to BackupFP hanging while initial backup set on schedule.

In case specified size is reached the IASO 2011 Client will stop to process the backup. The session will complete with error “You reached your N Gb data limit. Please decrease the limit or contact your administrator” where N is a limitation you set.

    These features will be available for the end user if you include them in a product that is assigned to user’s contract. If they are unchecked, these functionalities will be unavailable for use and the appropriate tabs will be hidden on IASO 2011 Client.
    Please pay your attention to the fact that if all above-listed features are not included in the product you are able to set them by sending an appropriate remote command (like set filters, set scheduling, set selection) to a particular user via Management Console.
  • One more functionality — Demo — that gives a good possibility to demonstrate to the end-user wishing to use IASO 2011 Client its abilities or to fully work with the application during specified period of time is available. If you include Demo feature in the product, you will be able to use all features according to any assigned product without counting statistics and billing information. Just pay your attention to the fact that this feature is not permanent and has limited duration.
  • Edu — this functionality gives a possibility to allocate accounts not only by the products they are assigned to but also by other complementary characteristics.
  • ShowMandatoryTextInBMTitle — displays the complementary title indicating the type of used application (e.g. Demo, Edu, etc). The additional title will follow "Backup Manager" header on the main pane of GUI.
  • Retention period per plugin — gives a possibility to set history limit for each plugin separately.

• Added the possibility to specify filter-paths with spaces in their names in Send Remote Commands functionality.
• Cabinet Consistency Check is now forced for all clients. This remote command (check consistency) will be sent to all engine’s accounts each Friday evening (between 6 and 7 PM in accordance to the local time of machine where engine is installed) to prevent complete data loss in case if any cabinets are manually removed from storage, disk is corrupted by any reason or lack of data (cabinets) during Offline backup.
• Added the regrant of required licence for accounts product content of which is changed.
• Added Backup Platform Licence ID (BPL ID) information to the About ME dialog window.

To start unattended installation just use the command line with installation file name and following parameters: -protocol, -server, -encryption-key, -unattended, e.g.

BackupFP sends a registration request,then reads a registration response and retrieve account name and password from the server. When it is done, the installation is successfully completed. MC will show a new account created for this backup client, account name is based on machine name of the client.

• Improved and more convenient for use scheduling mechanism is developed. Now you have a possibility to specify the names for backups on schedule you set and add necessary pre-/post- backup actions (that you are able to create yourself too on the Scripts tab) separated for each of them (for detailed information please follow this link).
• Added Cabinet Cache for Restore (for detailed information please follow this link).
• Added LocalSpeedVault functionality — caching of data on a local or network drive (for detailed information please follow this link).
• Added Load balancing mechanism, that gives a possibility to evenly distribute the load on all the servers you want to use for backup. To make this functionality available you should specify all server IPs, separated by semicolons, in config.ini file of IASO 2011 Client (E.g. Server=127.0.0.1;111.111.111.111;222.222.222.222 etc.). There is also no more reason for excitement: if one of the servers is overloaded during backup, BackupFP will automatically choose another server and continue the process.
• Added new selection mechanism.
• Now Events logs are available for IASO 2011 Client. You can easily identify the state of the application displayed in EventViewer. Depending on Operating System you use, these logs are located:
  • Windows 2003, Windows XP: Application and Services → Logs → Widows → Backup with readable text;
  • Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 2008: Windows Logs → Application with the following event IDs:
    • 10 — BackupFP started
    • 51 — Backup started
    • 52 — Restore started
  • with following session statuses:
    • 101 — In progress
    • 102 — Failed
    • 103 — Aborted
    • 105 — Completed
    • 106 — Interrupted
    • 107 — Not started
    • 108 — Completed with errors
    • 109 — In progress with faults

• Added checkboxes for all plugins. This functionality automatically includes all new added instances in backup selection and gives a possibility to backup them without requiring any extra efforts. If you select the whole plugin all next instances that you add like for example new databases in MsSQL, new shared folders in Network Shares, virtual machines in VMware Backup Plugin and so on will be included in selection automatically.

• Set well-defined order of plugins processing during backup on scheduling. Now this order corresponds to the order of plugins in which they are presented on advance scheduling tab : Files and Folders, MsSQL databases, System State, Exchange Stores, Network Shares and then VMwareBackupPlugin.
• Added the possibility to download and use Backup Register from the server if the local one is corrupted.
• Added the possibility to exit from IASO2011 Client with cross when it is started remotely from Management Console. Now when you press cross the application will be closed without reducing to tray and keeping active unlike you start Backup Manager in a standard way.
• Added the opportunity of Virtual Drive name branding.
• Prohibited the simultaneous backup of Exchange, System state, MSSQL plugins. E.g. if Exchange backup takes more than 24 hours, the next session will be completed with "Not started" status and "Simultaneous backup of this plugin is prohibited" error.

• New user management functionality developed on MC. There are 5 levels of users privileges:
  • Reporter — only sees the reports;
  • Supporter — the same as reporter but he can start a backup, grab logs, set logging level;
  • Operator — can do everything except deleting, modifying, adding accounts, groups and products;
  • Manager — can manage accounts and groups but not products;
  • Administrator — all possible activities.

The most right character represents ‘today’, the previous one yesterday etc. Every color bar is displayed per plugin.

• ME installation is now updatable (to update ME you need only to download new version and setup it over the previous one!).
• Reporting to PDF functionality added to MC (the information displayed in MC will be loaded to *.pdf file).
